Objective:

Position, on the RCM regional agenda, the relevance of strengthening government capacities to identify diaspora profiles and strengthen mechanisms for accessing legal identity.

About the RCGM:

The RCGM is the technical-policy coordination body of the RCM; it is composed of at least mid level officials, preferably Directors, of migration related ministries, such as foreign affairs and immigration authorities with decision-making capability that can formulate proposals.

Objective:

The workshop's overall objective is to open a dialogue and discussion within the framework of the RCM to address common perspectives related to the different forms of mobility related to disasters, climate change and environmental degradation. The workshop will also strengthen the RCM Member Countries’ understanding of the negotiation processes under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the climate-migration nexus, with particular attention to aspects related to loss and damage resulting from the climate crisis.

Objective:

Train participants from countries belonging to the RCM and SACM, as multipliers on the Humanitarian Border Security (USFROH) course, to raise awareness and standardize migration processes, provide new tools to ensure respect for human rights for an orderly, safe, and regular migration, to lay the foundations for the "Regional Observatory on Irregular Human Mobility".

Perspectives on the current state of migration in the region.

XXIII Meeting of the Regional Conference on Migration to be held in Panama City, Panamá, on November 14-15, with previous technical meetings of the Liaison Officer Networks and the Regional Consultation Group on Migration (RCGM) on November 12-13.

The proposed lines of action will be presented to RCM Member Countries for their consideration and validation.

The objective of the workshop is to develop the lines of action for mainstreaming migration into the 2030 Agenda within the framework of the RCM and with the active participation of and in consultation with the Member States, which will subsequently be presented to the Vice Ministers of the RCM Member Countries. The development and facilitation of the workshop will be conducted in coordination with IOM and other international observer organisms, such as ILO, ECLAC, UNDP and UNFPA.

The nature of the Regional Consultation Group on Migration (RCGM) meeting includes the Liaison Officers Network to Combat Migrant Smuggling and Trafficking in Persons, and the Network for Consular Protection. During these meetings, recommendations are issued to Vice-Ministers for consideration at the annual meeting of the RCM. The RCGM calls to government authorities, representatives of civil society and observer organizations to the CRM.
