Objective:

Exchange of experiences between the South American Conference on Migration and the Regional Conference on Migration.

Specific Objectives

• Exchange experiences on migration integration between both conferences.
• Present strategic advances of the SACM: South American Plan 2035 and Annual Plan of the Integration Network.
• Reflect on the construction of a regional system of residence and full integration.
• Learn about good practices of the RCM in return and reintegration.

General Objective

To sensitize communicators with the knowledge and tools to inform about Early Childhood, Childhood and Adolescence (PINA) and women in the context of human mobility, in a way that safeguards their rights and promotes a fairer and more equitable social communication.

Specific Objectives

• Identify the factors that influence social communication that violates the rights of PINA and women in the context of human mobility.
• To analyze cases of communication that are detrimental to the human rights of PINA and women in the context of human mobility.
• To propose initiatives for the application of knowledge and tools at the local and regional level.

This is one of the joint activities organized with the South American Conference on Migration (SACM), following the agreements reached during the meeting between both mechanisms held in October 2024. The event is designed for delegates from the Member Countries of the RCM and SACM dedicated to assist and to the protection of migrant children and adolescents, international organizations, United Nations agencies, and organized civil society.

Objectives:

• To discuss the potential benefits and challenges of skills-based mobility schemes in the Americas, considering the evidence and lessons learned within the continent and in other regions.
• To bring more alignment among regional, and national priorities on labour and skills mobility.
• To discuss possible work strands in support of the design and implementation of skills mobility partnerships that benefit all the parties involved in an equal manner.

Objective:

To present to Member Countries the prioritization of the roadmaps that will guide the work of the RCM in the medium term in order to advance the work of the RCM with the aim of achieving the objectives of the Global Compact on Migration (GCM).

General Objective:

To promote an exchange of promising practices, challenges, and actions to be implemented on access to justice for migrant victims of human rights abuses and violations, based on a dialogue with States, NHRIs, observer organizations, and civil organizations.

Specific objectives:

1. Analyze the challenges and risks faced by migrants in transit and destination, including violence, discrimination, arbitrary detention, torture and ill-treatment, gender-based violence, exploitation, enforced disappearances, and denial of economic, social, and cultural rights.
2. Explore protection mechanisms at the national and international levels that can be used to improve access to justice for migrants and their families.
3. Identify and promote promising practices and concrete actions that can be implemented by States, civil society organizations, national human rights institutions, migrants, family members, and other stakeholders.

Objective:

• Present the Regional Instrument for Identifying Vulnerabilities of Migrants at Borders and discuss training processes related to it, with the support of RNCOM, OHCHR, UNHCR, and the participation of MIRPS.

To follow up on the recommendations of the roadmaps of the VI Congress of Women in the Context of Migration, with the support of the IOM.

To present the Work Plan proposed by Costa Rica in its capacity as Presidency Pro-Témpore of the RCM for 2025.
