This activity was approved at the Vice-Ministerial Meeting in December 2021. Likewise, decision 4, paragraph d of the Vice-Ministerial Declaration states:

d. To keep communication and exchange with the SACM Member Countries with the aim to know about changes related to migration management and visas that may impact migration flows in the region.

Also, the RCM PPT Work Plan for 2022 establishes the following structural activity:

• III Plenary Meeting between the RCM and the SACM, by mid-2022.

General objective:

To promote regional cooperation actions that contribute to orderly, safe, and regular labor mobility for the benefit of the communities of origin, transit, and destination.

Specific objectives

• Exchange information on good practices and lessons learned in the negotiation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of labor migration mechanisms from the perspective of governments, workers, and employers.
• Analyze the current situation of existing mechanisms in the region to facilitate labor migration and their effects on migration dynamics.
• To incorporate the priorities and expectations of the various actors in the world of work (governments, employers, and workers’ organizations) in labor migration management.

General objective:

Promote technical dialogue among RCM Member Countries to strengthen government strategies for diaspora promotion, development, engagement, and capitalization.

Specific objectives:

• To analyze the elements that make up an efficient strategy for the diaspora promotion, development, and engagement.
• Identify good practices on strategies for engaging and integrating diasporas in countries of origin, transit, and destination.
• Contribute to the integration of a regional approach (RCM-SACM) concerning the promotion, engagement, development, and capitalization of diaspora contributions.

• Event´s Description: Space for discussion, dialogue and creation of conclusions based on the experience of the participating delegations on the subject of women in the context of migration. There will be working tables on various topics.
• Topics to be developed: Women and labour, Data with a Gender Approach, Women and the Global Compact, Migrant Children and Adolescents, Women and the SDGs, Violence against Women.

Training for the officials of the Liaison Officers Network for the Protection of Migrant Girls, Boys and Adolescents, one day before the next meeting of the RCGM, particularly focused on determining the best interest of the child in cases of sexual and gender-based violence affecting migrant girls and adolescents with international protection needs.
